Certified as a Sommelier in 1994, Top of the World Sommelier Dean Wachstetter is a lifelong restaurant professional with 30 years of experience as waiter, captain, general manager, food & beverage director.

Moving from Tucson, working his way through Texas, Wachstetter decided that Las Vegas was his destiny. He thus became part of the opening crew at Top of the Word restaurant and has been running the wine program since day one. He believes Top of the World represents one of the most unique dining experiences offered anywhere, with incredible ambiance and wonderful people, and that combination has kept him in Las Vegas for so long.

Philosophically, Wachstetter is "old school," believing strongly in the magic of pairing great wine with food to create the most memorable dining experience possible. He notes that Top of the World has the most aggressively priced wine list on the Vegas Strip, offering tremendous value to wine loving guests. He strives daily to achieve his goal for the restaurant to be known as a true wine destination. Under his leadership, Top of the World has been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 17 years in a row, every year from 1996 to present.

He has also been featured in the Sommelier's Guide to Great Restaurants, Tasting Panel Magazine and Sante Magazine, among others.
